Coffee Gear we use and Love

AeroPress Original

AeroPress Original

The Aeropress is a lightweight, portable coffee brewer that uses gentle air pressure to create a smooth, rich cup of coffee with low bitterness. It works well with any roast profile, making it super versatile. The only thing to keep in mind is using the right grind size - similar to a filter grind - to get the best flavour. It is easy to use, easy to clean and perfect for home, travel or brewing great coffee on the go.

Our thoughts about it:

If you want an easy, no-stress filter coffee brewer that’s perfect for travel and doesn’t punish you for small mistakes, the AeroPress is a great pick. It’s playful to use, surprisingly consistent, and always delivers a tasty cup— even if it’s not the absolute favourite in our lineup. Reliable, portable, and genuinely enjoyable, it’s one of those brewers you’re always glad to have around.

  • Portable and travel friendly
  • Fast and easy to clean

De'Longhi La Specialista Arte

De'Longhi La Specialista Arte

This is a compact, bean-to-cup espresso machine that blends café-quality performance with intuitive controls. It features an integrated grinder with multiple settings, a professional tamper, and a powerful 15-bar pump. With three temperature profiles and a steam wand for microfoam, it lets you make everything from rich espresso to latte-art milk drinks — all while maintaining stable brewing temperatures.

Our thoughts about it:

This machine has been part of our home setup for a couple of years now, and overall it’s a decent little espresso maker. It pulls a respectable shot—especially if you stick to medium-dark or dark roasts—but you do need to nudge the grind and push the pump toward the higher end to get the best results.

The steam wand is a bit on the weaker side, though still perfectly usable for the price. With a bit of practice, you can get nicely textured milk. The built-in grinder does the job at the beginning, but you’ll quickly find yourself at the finest settings to achieve proper espresso extraction, which means there isn’t much wiggle room left—especially if you prefer lighter roasts.

All in all, the La Specialista Arte is good value and a friendly starting point for anyone getting into semi-manual espresso making. Just keep in mind that it has its limits if you’re aiming for true café-level performance.

  • Integrated grinder
  • Milk texturing is good for beginners
  • Adjustable temperature and pre-infusion settings
  • Very fast heat-up thanks to its thermoblock heating system

Goat Story GINA Smart Coffee Maker

Goat Story GINA Smart Coffee Maker

GINA Smart, the beautifully designed brewer from Goat Story that feels like a barista (and a scientist) in one. It's not just a coffee maker — it's an experience. With GINA, you can brew in three different ways: a clear pour-over, a rich immersion, or a smooth cold‑drip. The base hides a precision scale that connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and the GINA app guides you through the whole process. Whether you're experimenting with new brew recipes or just want a reliably great cup, GINA gives you control — and it looks classy doing it.

Our thoughts about it:

We’ve had this machine since it first came out, and it’s easily one of our favourite filter-style brewers. What makes it stand out is the flexibility: you can brew using free-flow, immersion, or a more controlled extraction, which really lets you play with flavour and technique.

The other big win Its the design. It looks fantastic on the counter, feels sturdy in the hands, and has that “built to last” quality you can actually notice day to day.

It’s not the cheapest option on the market, but the craftsmanship and durability justify the investment. For us, it strikes the perfect balance of versatility, longevity, and visual appeal—while consistently producing great coffee.

  • 3 in 1 brewing methods
  • Precision valve for flow control
  • High quality materials
  • Aesthetic design
  • Built-in smart scale

Comandante Hand Grinder

Comandante Hand Grinder

A premium manual coffee grinder made in Germany, the Comandante C40 uses ultra-sharp, high-nitrogen stainless-steel "Nitro Blade" burrs to deliver very uniform and precise grounds. With 30–35 grind settings, it's versatile enough for espresso, pour-over, French press, and more. Its solid construction features a stainless-steel body, double ball bearings for smooth cranking, and a wood‑knob handle. Built to last, it's designed for serious coffee lovers who want control, quality, and a long-term tool.

Our thoughts about it:

The Comandante is hands-down one of the best manual grinders I’ve ever used. The grind precision and consistency are genuinely impressive, and it’s surprisingly fast for a hand grinder. The ergonomics are spot-on too — the handle stays firmly in place while you grind, which is more than I can say for many others.

Yes, it sits at the higher end of the price range, but in my opinion, it earns every bit of its reputation. If you want a grinder that delivers top-tier performance and lasts, the Comandante is absolutely worth it.

  • Very consistent grind quality
  • Sturdy, high quality build
  • Ultra sharp, high quality burrs
  • You can grind from Turkish fine to Cafetière coarse
